  • The Harry P. Denman Evangelism Award was presented in the spirit of the man, through his passion, led thousands to a relationship with Christ. The Rev. Steven Helm, pastor at Selma UMC, received the award this year.
  • Phil Ford was introduced as the new associate director of the North Indiana UM Foundation.
  • Five members of the NIC were honored with one of the Conference's highest awards for laity, the Bread and Basin Award. This year's recipients are Tom Lightle, Marian Futter, John and Diana Barker and the Rev. Steve Burris.
  • It was announced that the newly created coordinator of Hispanic ministries position would be filled by the Rev. Oscar Ramos-Gallardo.
  • Tom True, who has served on the COM staff for over 10 years, was honored. He will be moving to a local church appointment.
  • Dan Evans was affirmed as Conference chancellor (legal counsel).
  • Ruth Gates, a member of Lawrence UMC in Indianapolis, was honored as the inaugural recipient of the SIC Local Church Historian of the Year Award. Gates was honored for her more than 20 years of collecting, documenting, preserving, writing and exhibiting the history of Lawrence UMC.
  • The Rev Jim Truelove was selected to give the traditional "charge" to new ordinands on behalf of the retiring South Conference clergy class. The Rev. Corinne Boruff was chosen to give the "response" on behalf of the incoming class of ordinands. Boruff is associate pastor at Wesley UMC, Indianapolis.
  • Matt Carlisle was introduced as the Indiana Area UMC associate director of communications.
  • Paula Shrock was introduced as the new North Conference communicator.
  • Edward Cotrell Jr. was awarded the Church's Torch Award for Scouting leadership.
