A bright idea from: Grace UMC :

Small change adds up big

Everybody's got pocket change. That in mind, the United Methodist Women at Grace UMC in Elwood started collecting pennies and other small change for missions in a 20 gallon water jug placed in the church narthex some years ago. As the coins accumulated, Treasurer Wilma Lee had to empty the jug several times to make room for more. Last month the money was converted into a check for $1,315.30, payable to the UM-related Bashor Home for Children in Goshen, Ind. Wilma Lee, also the church's UMW missions chair, is full of ideas. She also put up a "sock tree" last month and invited members to donate items to decorate it. At last report this little church sent 103 pairs of socks and 39 pairs of underwear to Henderson Mission Settlement in Kentucky. Lorene Call
