Emily Greising:
Super youth makes mission possible
Emily Greising, a teenager from Indianapolis'
Meridian Street UMC, organized a two-week work camp to Africa University (AU)
this past June. Emily was one of 70 people who visited AU in 1998 with Bishop
White. She said, "That experience changed my life."
When Emily arrived home she began planning a return
trip and started a group called "Mission Possible" at Brebeuf High School, where
she was a junior. Her enthusiasm was contagious. Emily recruited 16 youth from
Brebeuf and two from other schools. Four adults accompanied them.
Emily said the group held two fundraisers; by and
large, each participant was responsible for his or her own cost. At AU they
assisted with faculty housing projects and volunteered at Mutare Mission
Orphanage. Their work team donated toys, clothing, sidewalk chalk and bubbles to
the orphanage.
Mission Possible delivered a check in the amount of
$1,500 to Africa University.
Emily will begin her freshman year at the University
of St. Louis this fall.
