Jim Doepken …
and Julie serve in Girdwood Alaska, north of Kenai. They went to Alaska in
2000, after serving in the NIC at Frankfort Trinity UMC. Jim and Julie hope to
buy a piece of land "that will let their ministry flourish." They ask for
prayers of guidance and wisdom.
Jim Dwyer …
Munich, Germany, who works closely with refugees, wrote of their deep concern
for the people of Zimbabwe.
Anne Girton …
Ganta Hospital Administrator, was interviewed by Liberian Television Network
in mid-March. Anne recently wrote of their need for donations of medical
equipment, drugs and supplies. She send her grateful appreciation to First
Church Hammond for contributions.
Bill and Maria Humbane …
Zimbabwe, contacted the NIC and asked for prayers for their brothers and
sisters in Christ, and the many orphaned and hungry in Zimbabwe as the situation
has worsened during the Mar 9-10 elections. Pray for the continued safety of
A.U.
Janet McCarty …
Philippines, who has a covenant relationship with Richmond/Chester Heights
UMC, plans to be in the SIC June 12-16.
Maimunah Natacha …
Indonesia, was the subject of an e-mail from Bill Imler which he wanted to
share. Natacha's communication, filled with both tragedy and praise to God for
guidance and care, was filled with heart-touching stories of devastation and
concern. In late January, she was recovering from shingles, when Indonesia
(already facing unsettling national problems) was caught in a terrible crisis of
flooding. Natacha's descriptions of life-threatening hardships, inconveniences,
smells, garbage, loss of belongings and the responses of Christians, tugged at
the hearts of all readers, especially those of us who know her. She wrote, ".
this country is missing in peace and smile." Natacha, a leader in her country
and one of the speakers at a conference on "How To Handle Food In Jakarta," is
an amazing person.
Evelyn Taylor …
mission interpreter in residence, is still a missionary.
Instead of her former location in Brazil, she is an interpreter in residence,
North Central Jurisdiction. She travels throughout the jurisdiction, speaking
about our UM mission throughout the world, emphasizing the need to support our
missionaries through covenant relationships. She is available for promoting
missions.
Ken Vance …
Zambia, director of Likasi Pastor's School, in addition to responsibilities
for Wings of the Morning Flight program, wrote in February that his 41-year-old
brother-in-law died in Ohio. Debbie was able to return and be with her family
during that time of grief.
Jon Walters …
pastor of Church of the New Covenant, Kenai, Alaska. Julie wrote that their
church had commissioned Joyce Getchell to create a large work of stained glass,
with four small historic symbols.
