Update on Ganta Hospital to be shared at medical volunteers consultation
Cherian and Kalindi Thomas, United Methodist General Board of Global Ministries medical doctors based in New York City, will inform volunteer medical workers about recent happenings at Ganta Hospital in Liberia and how medical teams can incorporate teaching of HIV/AIDS care and prevention into their agendas.
The Rx ConneXion, an arm of United Methodist Volunteer in Mission of the North Central Jurisdiction and part of the United Methodist Fellowship of Health Care Volunteers network, will hold its fourth medical UMVIM team consultation May 7-8 at Park Ridge United Methodist Church in the suburb just west Chicago.
Other workshop leaders will include: Jane Dunn, R.N., of Northern Illinois, Janet Auman, R.N., of East Ohio and Lorraine Koehn, R.N., of West Michigan. They will cover many aspects of medical team dynamics and working conditions.
Organizers say the consultation is an opportunity to meet these and other leaders and make the 'ConneXion' to join with a future medical team. The event starts 4 p.m. Friday May 7 and ends 4 p.m. May 8.
