Candidates listed for bishop in the North Central Jurisdiction

Here is a list of 12 United Methodist ordained elders, compiled by the United Methodist News Service, endorsed to be bishops in the North Central Jurisdiction. Delegates will elect bishops and assign active bishops during their July 14-17 meetings in the denomination's five U.S. jurisdictions. The North Central Jurisdictional Conference will meet in Davenport, Iowa, and plans to elect three bishops, retire three bishops and assign bishops to the ten episcopal areas of the jurisdiction.

  • David Alan Bard, a Minnesota district superintendent. Endorsed by the Minnesota Annual Conference's jurisdictional conference delegation.
  • Timothy Bias, pastor of First United Methodist Church, Peoria, Ill. Endorsed by the jurisdictional delegation of the Illinois Great Rivers Annual Conference.
  • Jerome "Jerry" DeVine, ministry consultant at the West Michigan Annual Conference. Endorsed by the Native American International Caucus' Northeast Region, which includes the North Central and Northeastern jurisdictions. Also endorsed by the Indian Workers Conference in Michigan.
  • Sally Dyck*, pastor of Garfield Memorial United Methodist Church in Pepper Pike, Ohio, East Ohio Conference. Endorsed by the North Central Jurisdiction Women's Caucus and by the Northern Illinois Conference delegation.
  • Mark Fenstermacher, senior pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in Elkhart, Ind. Endorsed by the North Indiana jurisdictional conference delegation.
  • Hee-Soo Jung*, Nicolet District superintendent, Wisconsin Annual Conference. Endorsed by the Wisconsin delegation to the North Central Jurisdictional Conference, as well as the National Association on Korean-American United Methodist Churches.
  • Deborah L. Kiesey, Waterloo District superintendent, Iowa Conference. Endorsed by the Iowa Annual Conference delegation to jurisdictional conference.
  • Duk Kyu Kwon*, mission superintendent of the North Central Jurisdiction Korean Mission Ministry. Endorsed by the National Association on Korean-American United Methodist Churches.
  • Margaret M. Mallory, Toledo District superintendent, West Ohio Conference. Endorsed by the annual conference delegation to jurisdictional conference.
  • Gregory McGarvey, senior pastor of Carmel United Methodist Church in north suburban Indianapolis. Endorsed by South Indiana jurisdictional conference delegates.
  • J. Lynn Pier-Fitzgerald, Grand Traverse District superintendent, West Michigan Annual Conference. Endorsed by the annual conference delegation to jurisdictional conference.
  • Gregory D. Stover, Cincinnati District superintendent, West Ohio Annual Conference. Endorsed by the annual conference delegation to the jurisdictional conference.
