Bishop White's convocation on evangelism set for March 20
MARION, Ind. -- Bishop White has challenged all congregations to emphasize evangelism this quadrennium, opening our hearts, our minds, and our doors to new Christians and unchurched people in our community.
To celebrate what area churches are already accomplishing and to respond with creative approaches to evangelism, Indiana Area Bishop Woodie White instituted evangelism convocations. The final "Bishop White's Convocation on Evangelism," is scheduled for Saturday, March 20 from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at the Hanfield United Methodist Church at Route 18 and 400 East, two miles east of Marion.
The Rev. Tim Helm and the Hanfield UMC Praise Band will kick off the day-long event with a keynote address at 9:45 a.m. The keynote will be followed by morning and afternoon workshops with a closing worship and commissioning led by Bishop White at 2:30 p.m. A sack lunch will be served to participants at 12:15 p.m. Some 24 workshops will include several aspects of evangelism from youth and welcoming evangelism to children's ministries, preaching, revitalization of existing congregations, apartment ministries, worship and preaching.
