Crop Walk provides relief, development, refugee assistanceChurch World Service provides relief, development and refugee assistance in over 80 countries around the world. Each year, around 2,000 communities join together to raise funds for this organization by holding CROP WALKs. From the money raised, up to 20 percent can go back into the local community, while the rest is used through CWS for programs to help reach hunger needs. Three years ago, Indianapolis was a pilot site for online fundraising for CROP WALKs. With the help of Kintera's Friends Asking Friends, all walkers can now log in, create a Web site, and send e-mails asking for sponsorship internationally. Online pledging also allows sponsors to donate using a credit card. While most walkers are involved with a church team, individuals also can choose to participate. The Indianapolis CROP WALK will be held on October 17 with others held around the state largely in October (see adjacent list). For more information about starting or joining a walk, contact Judy Dunson at 923-2938 or jdunson@churchworldservice.org. Donations may be placed at www.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=30652. For the latest information on walk location and dates, visit www.cropwalk.org/regional-office.html, then click on our Indiana. Last updated on 08/20/2004 |
