Supporting ministries here and around the world

Your church offerings finance United Methodist missions and ministries here at home and around the world. Of each dollar contributed, on average in a local United Methodist Church across America:

  • 83.2 cents stays in local churches for ministries and expenses;

  • 12.8 cents goes for regional ministries in Annual and Jurisdiction Conferences of The United Methodist Church; and

  • Less than 4 cents goes to the United Methodist apportioned general funds supporting the church's worldwide missions, salaries and administrative costs.

The seven apportioned general funds of The United Methodist Church include:

  • World Service Fund is the heart of our denominational presence, underwriting Christian mission and ministry around the world.

  • Ministerial Education Fund helps thousands of men and women become pastoral leaders in The United Methodist Church through scholarships, support to 13 United Methodist seminaries in the United States, continue educational opportunities for pastors and course-of-study education for local pastors.

  • Africa University Fund supports the only United Methodist degree-granting university in Africa and has graduated hundreds of men and women from 20 countries.

  • Black College Fund supports the programs and ministries of 11 historically Black colleges and universities.

  • Interdenominational Cooperation Fund supports our church's ecumenical efforts around the world nurturing the ministries of Churches Uniting in Christ, the National Council of Churches of Christ in the USA, the World Council of Churches, the World Methodist Council and the Commission on Pan-Methodist Cooperation and Union.

  • Episcopal Fund supports the ministries of Bishop Michael Coyner and the church's 50 active and more than 40 retired bishops and bishop spouses, including Bishop and Mrs. White. The international Council of Bishops, which meets twice a year and includes bishops of the United States, Europe, Africa and the Philippines.

  • General Administration Fund maintains a system of management oversight and fiscal accountability, underwrites General Conference, supports the Judicial Council and maintains the official documents and historical artifacts of the church.
