Walk Thru Bethlehem offered by Leo churchVisitors will experience being transported back in time. Two thousand years ago, in Bethlehem, the world began a journey of wonder and faith. The majesty of that journey was heralded by a baby's cry and a world anxious to meet the Messiah. It is with much joy that the Leo United Methodist Church, 13527 Leo Road, Leo, Ind. (10 miles northwest of Fort Wayne) will be presenting its second annual Walk Thru Bethlehem. This re-enactment will be presented on Saturday, Dec. 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 5 from 2 to 5 p.m. Organizers of the re-enactment say that upon entering Bethlehem, visitors will experience being transported back in time as they wander down the narrow winding streets past King Herod's temple. Perhaps King Herod will be holding court. Bethlehem will be crowded as many have come to be counted due to the census. There visitors will see the Roman guards being dispatched to control the crowds, shopkeepers selling their wares and innkeepers whose inns are full to the rafters. When visitors get to the outskirts of town, they will witness an innkeeper who has just turned away a young couple. There is an air of urgency about this, because the couple is exhausted and the young woman is about to deliver a baby. The innkeeper directs them to the stable where she will give birth to a baby boy - Jesus, the long awaited Messiah. As visitors enter the stable, perhaps they can imagine what it was like to be there on that Holy Night. The congregation of Leo United Methodist Church invites Hoosiers from across the state to set aside some time from the hustle and bustle and join us to take a Walk Thru Bethlehem and reverently worship our Lord and Savior at the foot of the cradle in the shadow of the cross.
