Cedar Lake church dedicates parking lot
The Rev. David Schrader, Calumet District Superintendent, the Rev. Tom Shanahan, and the Robert Carnahan, administrative council chairperson, along with members of the Cedar Lake United Methodist Church, in Cedar Lake, Ind. dedicated its recently paved parking lot during its fall 2004 charge conference annual meeting.
"This project had been a dream of the congregation for many years and their prayers were answered through a grant from the Calumet Missionary Society of the Calumet District UMC," said Shrader. Fred Hahn, owner of Hahn Trucking and a member of the Cedar Lake church, did the paving work.
The Cedar Lake UMC has many elderly members. The paved lot makes it easier for them to walk. Also, the church sponsors a food pantry where many of the clients are elderly and or handicapped, and having the paved lot is safer for them.
