Dyer needs shoesDyer United Methodist Church is in the process of collecting shoes for the Shoes For Orphan Souls drive. The missions committee has undertaken this challenge and have collected over 100 pairs of shoes but are far below their goal of 500 pairs. Tim Delahunty, Dyer UMC Missions Chair, hopes to reach this goal before Easter. "There are so many kids in need, this is really a worthwhile cause," said Delahunty. Tiffany Taylor, director of the Buckner SOS project, says that the drive "meets a desperate need for children living in orphanages overseas." She noted that, while the program has expanded in recent years, "Unfortunately, the needs among orphanages only continue to grow. That is why it's more important than ever for us to collect new shoes." Local church and school drives are crucial to the success of this program. For information call 219-865-8947.
