No word on Jeffrey Ake as home put on marketLaPORTE, Ind. - According to news sources across Indiana, the wife of Jeffrey Ake and the couple's four children are planning to move from their lakefront home in LaPorte, marking another twist since the LaPorte businessman with ties to Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church was taken hostage in Iraq last month. A sign listing the house for sale is posted in the front yard of the Closser Ave. residence. After willingly speaking about Ake and his plight shortly after he was taken hostage on April 11, the mayor's office in LaPorte has remained quiet since the abrupt cancellation of a candlelight vigil that was planned April 15 at Fox Park. United Methodist Pastor David Tripp of Rolling Prairie was one of the organizers of that vigil. The office of U.S. Rep. Chris Chocola, R-Bristol, also has reported he has not received notice of any change in Ake's status. Throughout LaPorte, businesses continue to display signs that offer prayers and support for the Ake family. Ake, 47, owns Equipment Express, a factory near Rolling Prairie that manufactures machines that fill water bottles and other products. He was doing some work at a water treatment plant near Baghdad when he was kidnapped. Last updated on 25 Apr 2008 |
