Medical scholarship fund named in honor of Bishop Leroy Hodapp
The Operation Doctor Area Committee meeting April 7 approved the establishment of the Bishop Leroy Hodapp Medical Scholarship Fund.
The Rev. Joe Wagner, co-coordinator of Operation Classroom/Operation Doctor, said, "As we continue to upgrade the medical services in Liberia and Sierra Leone, we need to upgrade the staff. This scholarship fund will aid in this goal to assist international medical students."
The first recipient of the scholarship is Dr. Dennis Marke, chief medical officer of Kissy Hospital in Sierra Leone. He will be pursuing a Masters of Science Degree in Mother and Child Health at the Institute of Child Health, at the University College in London.
