Acton dedicates debt-free buildingINDIANAPOLIS - Members of the Acton UMC in Indianapolis dedicated its debt-free church building on June 18. The building was consecrated in 1991. Chris Crowel, chairman of the trustees, presented the mortgage to Indianapolis East District Superintendent Bill Keith who placed the document into a shredder on the altar. Acton UMC, organized in 1827, is the oldest congregation in Franklin Township of Marion County. According to Pastor Dave Cummings, the congregation responded generously to a Miracle Sunday campaign and on Easter Sunday, when the church received an offering of $81,000, which with other funds, permitted the church to retire a $131,000 debt on June 1.
