South Conference begins new 'Tithe Plus' plan this month
For congregations of the South Indiana Conference of The United Methodist Church, January begins a change from an apportionment model to a new tithing model as a means of funding South Indiana Conference mission and ministry.
At the SIC session in June, some issues were addressed to make the new model conform to The United Methodist Book of Discipline. The model that resulted was an asking for a tithe of at least 10 percent for SIC support with an additional two percent asking to be forwarded to the General Church for global mission and ministry. This new model is referred by some as a "Tithe Plus" model.

The North Indiana Conference has completed its first year with the Tithing Plus model of giving by its congregations.
