Hoosiers for Darfur Speaking tour announced for March, AprilThe Indiana Darfur Coalition has scheduled a state-wide Darfur Speaking Tour to enlighten the public on the issue of genocide in Darfur, Sudan, which will culminate with a Finale Rally in Indianapolis on April 15. Coalition leaders, including United Methodists, hope to bring together Indiana activists for Darfur, including representatives from each speaking venue, which will lead up to a finale rally at the State House in Indianapolis on Sunday, April 15 at 3 p.m. Admission is free and encouraged. The dates are:
Suliman Giddo, president of Darfur Peace & Development Org. and the Rev. Joe Johns, pastor of Fellowship Missionary Church in Fort Wayne will be speaking. No other venues are being planned at this point, as the speakers' schedules are quickly booking up. The coalition is currently working with the Indiana General Assembly for passage of HB1484 - the Sudan Divestment bill. The bill passed the Indiana House of Representative (97-0) and is now being considered by the Indiana Senate. More information will be posted on the e-HUM e-vents list published on Fridays.
