Bishop names Wilfong as next New Albany District Superintendent

INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana Bishop Michael J. Coyner recently announced the appointment of the Rev. Charles D. Wilfong, senior pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Greensburg, Ind., in the Rushville District, as the new Superintendent for the New Albany District effective Dec. 1.

Wilfong succeeds the Rev. Michael Biggs, who is moving to a new appointment at Chapel Hill UMC in Indianapolis. Wilfong previously served in the New Albany District before coming to Greensburg six years ago.

Upon this appointment, Bishop Coyner said, "Charlie has been an effective pastor and leader in the life of the South Indiana Conference. He was highly recommended to me by the current Cabinet members and also by several persons from the New Albany District who know Charlie from his previous service in a church in that area.

"I trust that he and his wife, Donna will make a smooth transition in following the very faithful leadership example set by Mike and Ruthie Biggs."
