Today's Mendenhall Lecture cancelled
GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- DePauw University has announced that the
Mendenhall Lecture scheduled for today, November 10, has been cancelled
due to the illness of the featured speaker, Marcus Borg.
Head of U.N. World Food Program to keynote Nov. 20 seminar in
Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS - James T. Morris, executive director of the United
Nations World Food Program will be the keynote speaker at a Saturday
seminar this fall for church leaders. The seminar is scheduled for
Saturday, Nov. 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at North United Methodist Church
(3808 N. Meridian) in Indianapolis. It will present an in-depth look
into world food problems.
Morris became the tenth Executive Director of the United Nations'
World Food Program in April 2002. He oversees the world's largest food
aid organization, that last year fed more than 110 million people in 82
countries with contributions totaling $3.8 billion.
Other speakers will include: Bob Thompson, Director of Ag Policy
University of Illinois and former Director of Rural Development for the
World Bank; Morton Marcus, Director Indiana Business Research Center and
columnist; Don Villwock, President Indiana Farm Bureau; Jess
Lowenberg-DeBoer (invited) Director of International Agricultural
Programs Purdue, Team Leader West Africa Project Purdue; John Hardin
(invited) Delegate to the World Trade Organization, Board of Trustees
Purdue.
Seminar topics include world food programs, world food shortages,
world food supplies, international trade agreements and the EU to name a
few.

by Nov. 16, if you plan to have lunch with us. Day of event
registrations will be accepted but lunch will not be provided.
This event is produced in cooperation with Indianapolis Metro
Ministries and North United Methodist Church. Proceeds of this event
will go to mission work.
