Head of U.N. World Food Program to keynote Friday, Nov. 19 seminar in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS - James T. Morris, executive director of the United Nations World Food Program will be the keynote speaker of Friday. The seminar is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at North United Methodist Church (3808 N. Meridian) in Indianapolis. It will present an in-depth look into world food problems.

Morris became the tenth Executive Director of the United Nations' World Food Program in April 2002. He oversees the world's largest food aid organization that last year fed more than 110 million people in 82 countries with contributions totaling $3.8 billion.

Other scheduled speakers include: Earl Kellogg, Vice Provost for International Programs at the University of Illinois; Morton Marcus, Director Indiana Business Research Center and columnist; Don Villwock, President Indiana Farm Bureau; Jess Lowenberg-DeBoer, Director of International Agricultural Programs at Purdue University and Team Leader West Africa Project Purdue; Robert Thompson of the University of Illinois, Maurice Weaver of America's Second Harvest, and Rina Manzo (UNWFP, Rome, Italy.)

Seminar topics include world food programs, world food shortages, world food supplies, international trade agreements and the EU to name a few.

This event is produced in cooperation with Indianapolis Metro Ministries and North United Methodist Church. Proceeds of this event will go to mission work. This event also had been promoted in error for Saturday.
