Volunteers, relief supplies needed in South Indiana

Supplies needed to aid in the relief efforts are flood buckets/cleaning supplies, tarps, toilet paper and diapers according to Randy Anderson, Acting Evansville Disaster Response Coordinator.  Please, NO CLOTHING. Anderson also said that donated gift cards from Wal-Mart would be very helpful in getting supplies in quickly.  Kevin McKinney, Evansville District Superintendent, said that donated gift cards may be sent to the Evansville District Office, 5200 Washington Avenue, Evansville, Indiana 47715.

Carolyn Ellis, SIC Volunteers in Mission Coordinator, stated that 15 teams, from 4 to 9 members each, helped with the relief efforts yesterday, Nov. 8. Today there are approximately 40 to 45 people volunteering.   Teams are cooking, sorting, delivering supplies, helping with debris clean-up and tarping roofs.  North Indiana Conference donated 50 tarps to help with this effort.

Volunteers are asked to report to Epworth Church, 4455 Epworth Road, Newburgh.  There they will complete the forms necessary to volunteer and will receive their work assignment.  Please contact Pastor Mike Monahan (812) 853-8107 if interested in helping with the relief efforts.  The check-point area is still in place by the National Guard.  Carolyn also said that the Presbyterian Churches in that area have called and have joined the relief efforts.
