ASSESSMENT OF DAVIESS, MARTIN COUNTIES UNDERWAY
This week's tornados in South Indiana destroyed homes, farms and
business structures in several counties plus dumped four to six inches
of rain in the Evansville area. Some basement flooding occurred. Teams
were checking tarps on damaged homes yesterday. Today Carolyn Ellis is
meeting with churches in the Daviess and Martin Counties to assess their
needs for volunteers to assist residents. Ellis noted that this area is
Amish country and volunteers need to be sensitive to the Amish culture
by not taking photographs of Amish people.
SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR SOUTH INDIANA TORNADO RELIEF
Supplies needed to help with the tornado relief efforts are flood
buckets/cleaning supplies, health kits, paper goods, tarps and diapers.
Please NO CLOTHING. Donated gift cards for storm relief from Wal-Mart
would be appreciated. Send gift cards to the Evansville District Office,
5200 Washington Avenue, Evansville, Indiana 47715. Collected tornado
relief supplies need to be taken to Hazelton UMC at Main & 3rd Streets,
Hazelton, IN 47640. Please contact Pastor Paul Huntsman at 812-784-2318
for hours and arrangements before delivering supplies.

Volunteers wishing to assist in Evansville District tornado relief
need to call Pastor Mike Monahan at Epworth United Methodist Church,
812-853-8107, before volunteering with the relief efforts. Volunteers
will be needed for during the coming weeks with the rebuilding efforts,
once FEMA and the insurance companies have finished with their
appraisals. Please call and add your name to the list of volunteers
willing to aid in the rebuilding efforts.
