Seashore Volunteer Center
Journal from D'Iberville

Week Eight, Final Day
This will be the last report from the Seashore District Volunteer
Center. The Week 8 Work Team has completed the building as of 4 p.m.
yesterday afternoon. Praise God! We turned on the water and air
conditioning this afternoon. The water heaters were turning out hot
water within an hour and the ice maker produced its first ice in about
30 minutes.
We began moving mattresses out of the church building this evening,
and even some of our volunteers spent the evening in the volunteer
center building last night.
All the heavy work has been completed with just a small punch list of
things that will be completed yet this weekend.
To those who gave their time and talent to the project, thank you so
much. To those who gave of their resources to make the dream a reality,
thank you as well. Remember that we are still in need of monies to fully
fund the project. To date approximately $97,000 is still needed. And to
those who will use the Seashore District Volunteer Center while working
on the homes of people in the community, Heritage United Methodist
Church is looking forward to your arrival.
If you are planning a mission trip to D'Iberville and want to use the
Volunteer Center, please contact the Rev. David Cumbest, pastor of
Heritage UMC, by e-mail at
biscuitman@bellsouth.net. He will work out the necessary
arrangements with you via e-mail since the telephone system is so
unreliable; e-mail also serves as a vehicle to keep great records
without a lot of transcription.
Again, thank you for remembering this week's work team in your
prayers. Continue to hold the people of D'Iberville and all the Gulf
Coast areas in your prayers and hearts as they rebuild their homes and
their lives. We can make a difference ... we are making a difference ...
in Indiana, in D'Iberville, Mississippi and around the world!
Today, we celebrate God's goodness in D'Iberville.
God is good, all the time, and all the time, God is good!
Greig Crowder, reporting

UMC in Kokomo District and gracious provided e-HUM with updates from
D'Iberville this final week of the build.
P.S. To date, the Indiana Area United Methodist Foundation has
received $103,605, leaving $96,395 to goal. Pictures of this week's
build can be seen online at
