MISSION NEWS OF SOUTH INDIANA CONFERENCE
BAKER CHAPEL UMC REBUILD PROJECT UPDATE
The Baker Chapel rebuild project is slightly ahead of schedule even
with all the rain that the Evansville area received. The roof is on and
teams are currently working on electrical needs, plumbing, HVAC and
installation of windows and exterior siding. To read daily progress
reports, please visit the Baker Chapel UMC Web site at
www.bakerchapel.org.
The South Indiana Conference thanks the many people that already have
responded to helping members of Baker Chapel UMC rebuild after the Nov.
6, 2005 tornado completed destroyed their facility. The South Indiana
Conference has heard from churches in both North and South Indiana
Conferences and currently has a team from Mountain View Presbyterian
Church in Loveland, Colo. scheduled to work. The conference thanks those
who responded to requests for landscaping advice. The Baker Chapel
building committee has decided to wait until spring to begin work on the
prayer garden. Thanks also go out to those who have given monetary gifts
and have donated needed supplies.
Those with experience in electrical work, plumbing and HVAC work and
willing to volunteer their time, please contact Elsie Miller at South
Indiana Conference as soon as possible at
emiller@sicumc.org or toll-free
1-800-919-8160, ext. 221. Volunteer work teams are being scheduled now
through April, 2007. Individual volunteers and teams are welcome.
Scheduling is flexible so if you can only volunteer for one day, it will
be appreciated. We still ask that volunteers register through South
Indiana Conference by completing the volunteer registration form and the
General Board of Global Ministries (GBGM) Accident Insurance
Application. Insurance is 75¢ per person per day. The registration fee
is lowered or waived for teams that do not require housing and/or meals.
Volunteer registration forms, the construction schedule and project
updates can be found on the Indiana Area website
www.inareaumc.org, the Baker
Chapel UMC Web site
www.bakerchapel.org, and the Conference Web site
www.sicumc.org.
If you would like to help fund this project, please send your gifts

Bishop Mike Coyner invites all of us to join him in setting aside
time to be directly involved in the mission work of our church –
