Friends and colleagues:
We are deeply saddened by the death of the Rev. H. S. Malone, who
died Thursday, Nov. 9 from injuries received in an auto accident. The
Rev. Malone served the Calumet District as Superintendent, and played a
prominent role at the Gary and Merrillville Methodist Hospitals as both
chaplain and member of the Board of Directors. He has long been a leader
here, as well as in Chicago and our annual conference.
Both the visitation and the funeral service will take place on
Tuesday, Nov. 14 at Saint Timothy Community Church, 1600 West 25th
Avenue, Gary, Indiana. (Located at the intersection of West 25th and
Grant Street, immediately north of the Grant Street exit of the Borman
Expressway, I-80/94.)
Visitation will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. CST. (10:30-11:30
EST) This will be followed by a special Omega Fraternity Service, 10:30
to 10:55 a.m. CST. (11:30-11:55 EST), a fraternity in which Rev. Malone
long held membership. The funeral will take place at 11:00 a.m. CST
(12:00 EST) and will be led by the Rev. John McCoy, Senior Pastor of
Chicago's Saint Mark's United Methodist Church, where Rev. Malone
worshiped and served on staff.
If you have questions about directions feel free to call the Calumet
District Service Center, 800-875-6548. Our hours on Monday are from 9
a.m. to 4 p.m. CST. (10:00-5:00 EST) We will be closed on Tuesday prior
to and during the funeral.
