Breaking Bread Breakfast, UMW retreat deadlines here
FREE BREAKFAST IN INDY JAN. 22TO SUPPORT STATEWIDE SMOKING BAN
The Hoosier Faith and Health Coalition will sponsor a complimentary
Breaking Bread Breakfast for Indiana’s faith leaders (clergy and laity)
to support a statewide workplace smoking ban. The breakfast is scheduled
for Tuesday, Jan. 22 at North UMC, 38th and North Meridian Streets,
Indianapolis from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Bishop Mike Coyner will give a welcome
and invocation. Two of the featured speakers will be the Rev. Dr. Steve
Ivy, a vice president of United Methodist-related Clarian Health, who
will speak on the ethical considerations of a statewide smoking ban, and
Sherry McIntyre, president of the Indiana Center for Parish Nursing.
They will accompany other faith and health leaders plus national leaders
of the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids. Learn more about legislation to
be introduced into the General Assembly for Indiana to join 22 other
states in a workplace smoking ban. Learn how you can help to pass such a
ban here in Indiana, a ban that will save thousands of lives from smoke
related deaths including deaths from secondhand smoke. Reserve your seat

NORTH INDIANA UMW FEB 15-16 RETREAT DEADLINE ON FRIDAY
The North Indiana United Methodist Women’s Spiritual Retreat is Feb.
15-16 at the University Inn and Conference Center in West Lafayette. Dr.
Carolyn Johnson, former North Indiana Conference and National Women’s
Division President, will address the theme: “Redefining What It Means to
Belong.” Registration and check-in begins at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15,
with an optional dinner at 7 p.m. Session I will follow dinner.
Saturday’s session begins with breakfast at 8 a.m. and concludes at 3
p.m.
Registration deadline is Friday, Jan. 18. Log on to
