Reynolds named United Methodist Council Director
Indiana Bishop Woodie W. White has appointed the Rev. Cynthia Reynolds to serve as the new North Indiana Conference Council Director for the United Methodist Church, effective June 16. Reynolds will succeed the Rev. Steve Burris, who is retiring after six years as council director.
Reynolds has served North Indiana churches for 23 years as an associate pastor, senior pastor, campus minister at Ball State University's Wesley Foundation, and Huntington District Superintendent from 1994 to 2000. She has also led and participated in several work missions within the U.S. and overseas.
Reynolds is the first woman to be appointed as leader of the North Indiana Annual (regional) Conference. Of her new position Reynolds said, "I see the council director as a facilitator of information and resources to empower local churches to fulfill the mission of Christ in the world. We are living in transitional times that call for a bold witness from the church of Jesus Christ."
The North Indiana Annual Conference consists, of 580 United Methodist churches with a combined membership of approximately 105,046. The Conference office is located at 1104 North Western Ave. in Marion, Ind.
