Seashore Volunteer Center Journal from D'Iberville

April 24, 2006

Week Eight

The Week 8 Work Team arrived Sunday evening in D'Iberville, Miss, to a pot-luck dinner hosted by Heritage United Methodist Church members and friends. Following dinner, team members gathered for an orientation meeting and than it was off to bed.

After breakfast this morning, Monday, April 24, we began:

  • Tracking down some electrical problems,

  • Installing the main sewer and water lines,

  • Installing plumbing fixtures in the bathrooms,

  • Finishing some wall sanding and preparation for a final coat of paint;

  • Installing some kitchen countertops.

The team is still getting acquainted, but working together always seems to speed up the process.

We want to remind our brother and sisters of the North and South Indiana Conferences that we are still in need of funding to pay for this project.  As of today, we are still in need of approximately $98,000 to fund the project completely.  We know that many churches and individuals have already contributed labor and resources to this project; to them, we want to say thank you so much.  If you haven't contributed to the project yet, please do so as soon as possible.  The reality of our funding is simply this: if every Indiana United Methodist would give one dollar ... just one dollar ... we would have more than enough money to fully fund this project.

Stay tuned for more reports from Week 8!
